The University of Aberdeen is seeking applications for a 0.8FTE Teaching Fellow in the Department of Sociology within the School of Social Science, with a focus on Applied Social Research.
Job Description
The Department of Sociology is one of the UK’s leading Departments and is currently ranked 14th of 96 in the UK by the Guardian University Guide. It provides a lively and collegiate atmosphere, with a strong emphasis on research led teaching. The University of Aberdeen – one of the UK’s six ancient universities –is top 10 in the UK for student satisfaction (NSS 2023) and ranks 12th on the Guardian’s Good University Guide for 2024. Both the Department and the University provide excellent support for scholarship.
The successful candidate will hold a PhD in Sociology or related discipline. They will have experience of teaching in higher education and have the capacity to contribute to courses at both undergraduate and postgraduate level. It is expected that the candidate will exhibit the capacity for major contributions to scholarship, to the development and teaching of Sociology applied social science research.
Salary will be at the appropriate point on the Grade 6 scale, £37,999 per annum, pro rata
