AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is an established and exciting higher education partnership forged in 2017. The partnership has created the first UK University in the State of Qatar offering mainstream degrees outside of Qatar Foundation. We celebrated our first cohort of graduates in 2019 and have seen significant growth in student numbers. With ambitious growth plans for the future, AFG College with the University of Aberdeen is looking to recruit committed academic professionals who are seeking new opportunities within the international higher education sector.Currently there are over 600 students studying at our Qatar campus. To accommodate the growth in our student numbers, plans are underway to build a new larger campus to be opened in 2025. This new campus will allow for further expansion in student numbers, degree offerings and research. These are particularly exciting times for both the College and the University and the wider higher education sector in Qatar.
Job Description
To meet this growing demand and in order to provide an excellent learning experience for our students, AFG College wish to recruit well-rounded academics with specialization in the following academic discipline of Public Health.
Applicants will be expected to demonstrate their significant experience in teaching in Higher Education (HE), recognized academic and teaching qualifications and sustained academic or professional engagement activities.
Applicants will have a track record of university teaching and learning and/or experience of training, educating and mentoring the development of others. Ideally candidates will have a teaching qualification, a recognition of the HEA or be willing to work towards their membership of a relevant Higher Education Professional Body.
It is desirable for candidates to hold a PhD or equivalent doctoral qualification in a related discipline. However, professionals who do not possess a PhD but hold a relevant Master’s degree and significant industry experience are encouraged to apply. Applicants will need to evidence scholarship and/or professional engagement, interaction, and activities related to their field of teaching.
Transnational education experience will be an advantage for all applicants. The ability to teach in more than one discipline-related area is essential. In addition to their teaching responsibilities, successful candidates will also be expected to participate in the administration of the programmes, actively engage with industry and in relevant scholarship activities. Knowledge of the profession and links to industry will enhance the expectation that candidates will collaborate with other research faculty within the partnership and in the wider academic community in their area of expertise.
