Student Assistant, Natural & Computing Sciences (NCS235S)

The School of Natural and Computing Sciences is looking for a student research assistant in Computer Science with knowledge in Arabic and Natural Language Processing to join the project “Al-ʿĀmīyah (Colloquial Arabic) and Generative AI – a snapshot of its emerging text-to-text abilities” supported by the Royal Society of Edinburgh. The student will work at the Department of Computing Science supervised by Dr. Wei Zhao and Prof. Ehud Reiter, as well as in collaboration with Dr. Jakub Zbrzezny from the Department of Divinity.

Job Description

The Department of Computing Science has a long-standing reputation in Artificial Intelligence and Cybersecurity, with world-recognised expertise in areas including multi-agent systems, natural language generation, machine learning and blockchain. The student who joins this project would have adequate access to computing resources, as well as benefit from the vibrant academic environment that includes weekly reading groups and seminars at the Department.

Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 4, £25,724 - £27,979 per annum with placement according to qualifications and experience. This is a part time position working 9.75 hours per week and will last for 5 months.
