Dr. Cecile Gubry-Rangin uses the facilities available in the CGEBM for analysis of Thaumarchaeota single cells.
The latest educational video from the College of Life Sciences and Medicine, University of Aberdeen has been released on YouTube detailing the single cell facilities available at the CGEBM. Dr. Cecile Gubry-Rangin works on characterising single cells of Thaumarchaeota using a combination of cytometry and cutting-edge genomics techniques. This work aims to uncover key biological mechanisms in an organism which currently can not be cultured in the laboratory. To minimise the chances of contamination with other cells, all laboratory work needs to be carried out in a specialised highly clean environment. These facilities are available in the ancient DNA lab at the CGEBM and are highlighted in the video.
