Assessing the effects of pressure and temperature on deep-sea hydrocarbon degrading microbial communities
A new publication in MicrobiologyOpen, including sequencing and analysis carried out by the CGEBM team, details the impact of both pressure and temperature on deep-sea hydrocarbon-degrading microbial communities in subarctic sediments. Using 16S amplicon sequencing, it was shown that pressure, temperature, and oil contamination all have varying impacts on the composition of the microbial community, with temperature demonstrating the biggest impact.
