Course outline
This short course will provide the technical knowledge and skills required to understand and promote the energy transition towards net zero economies, as well as some of its social, economic, regulatory, and environmental enablers and impacts. The course will include case studies related to Scotland, the United Kingdom, and the European Union, and how these can be extrapolated to other regions of the World.
Topics include
- Introduction to the energy transition and renewable energies (wind, solar, biomass)
- Hydrogen economies. Power to X.
- Offshore and onshore wind. Integration to the grid.
- Carbon Capture, Utilisation, and Storage
- Regulatory and financial challenges (international)
- Just transition
