Cafe Scientifique in the city is back, with the launch of our Autumn - Summer Season. We have a great line up, and as always, all events are free are do not require booking. Just turn up. So mark the dates in your diaries and we hope to see you soon.

The new season of cafe scientifique sessions in Waterstones begins in June and continues through to October. All events except the August Saturday special take place from 7pm on Wednesday eveings on the respective dates. All are free, no booking required. We have a great line up. - We kick the season off with the groundbreaking work of Paul Fowler and colleagues reported recently in the media (June 13). 

- On July 11, we have a special Olympics themed event featuring Gina Maffey and the fabulous Au-Magazine team (July 11). 

- August's event is a Saturday special again which this year features some sizzling science from Satrosphere Science Centre. The event takes place on 18 Aug - the last Saturday of the school summer holidays.

- September's event ties in with the British Science Festival and features space scientist and BBC presenter Dr Maggie Aderin of University College London. 

- Finally, on 10 October, we feature the innovative work of Dr Ernesto Compatangelo of our computing science department on the smartphone recognition of sign language.
