Prayer, Domine sancte pater omnipotens eterne deus in, continued.

per alium. Et semper misericordia tua nos preveniat et sequi\tur. Amen.

Introduction to the prayer, Deus propicius esto.

St Augustine composed this prayer and asked Christ that whoever said it daily or carries it on his person, might be protected against his enemies, fire, water and fatal poison, and might achieve any righteous purpose. Anyone who says the prayer will not die a sudden death on the day he says it and his soul will not enter hell.
