University helps more college students study towards a degree

Agreements between the University of Aberdeen and three Scottish colleges will bring more opportunities for college students in Scotland to benefit from a university degree.

The University has recently signed updated articulation agreements with North East of Scotland College, Dundee & Angus College and New College Lanarkshire.

These agreements will enable more students from these colleges to continue their studies at Aberdeen after completing HNC or HND qualifications in specific subjects. They will also see staff from the University and each college work more closely together to develop new routes, as well as offer tailored advice and guidance and pre-entry support.

The news comes during a week-long campaign spearheaded by the College Development Network (CDN), entitled ‘Love Scotland’s Colleges’.  The week-long campaign, which is backed by the University, was launched on November 30.

It follows the University’s own online Articulation Week, where students, staff, pupils and parents/guardians could find out more about the University’s articulation pathways that enable college students to progress from college to degree study.

Dr Sally Middleton, Access & Articulation Manager, from the University of Aberdeen said: “As part of our foundational commitment to being open to all, we are continually working to improve the pathways from Scottish Higher National courses onto a number of our degree programmes.

“The signing of these agreements is an important milestone in our long-standing relationships with these college partners, with whom we enjoy a close relationship.

“These updated agreements will enhance opportunities for students from each of these colleges to progress to degree-level study, and it also signals our backing for College Development Network’s current campaign, which celebrates the work of Scotland’s colleges.

“We look forward to helping more students from each of these colleges continue their learning journeys with us, and to welcoming them into our community.”
