The next meeting of the Chinese Studies Group will be given by the Group's Chairman Martin Mills, also of the Department of Anthropology, on Tuesday December 8th, in Room F61, Edward Wright Building, Old Aberdeen.

Water, Earth and Air: The Costs of China's Growth

Dr Mills principal research focus is the anthropological study of Tibetan communities, in particular its religious and governmental institutions. He is author of Identity, Ritual and State in Tibetan Buddhism: The Foundations of Authority in Gelukpa Monasticism (Routledge 2003).Over the last twenty years he has carried out fieldwork in Tibet, Ladakh, China, Northern India and Scotland. Prior to coming to Aberdeen, he taught anthropology at the University of Sussex, and at the universities of St. Andrews and Edinburgh.
