Mid autumn festival

Mid autumn festival or zhōngqiū jié is held on the 15th day of the eighth month in the Chinese calendar, during a full moon.

The mid autumn festival is also sometimes refered to as the Moon festival or Mooncake festival. This is due to the full moon on this night, as well as the traditions of moon worship and moon gazing. It is popular to give and receive Mooncakes in the lead up to the festival.

Today, it is still an occasion for outdoor reunions among friends and relatives to eat mooncakes and watch the moon, a symbol of harmony and unity.
