The next meeting of the Chinese Studies Group will take place on Tuesday, 10th December, 2019, in Room F61, Edward Wright Building, Old Aberdeen, at 5:15 p.m.

David McBey, of the Institute of Biological and Environmental Sciences, University of Aberdeen, will speak on “Sustainable intensification of Chinese food production: The N-Circle Collaboration”.

David is a social scientist with interests in the environment, food and community. He is currently Project Co-ordinator for N-Circle, which seeks to find innovative solutions to tightening the Nitrogen cycle in Chinese farming. He has researched how food choice patterns can be influenced in society, using behavioural psychology techniques like nudges, and how governments can use these results to encourage people to eat less meat. He is broadly interested in how sociologists can factor environmental concerns into their research in order to effect societal change.
