The next meeting of the Chinese Studies Group will be on Tuesday 19th March 2019, when Professor Anna Lora-Wainwright, Professor of the Human Geography of China at the School of Geography and School of Interdisciplinary Studies, University of Oxford, will speak on Development is like a peacock: Reconfiguring rurality in contemporary China”

Professor Lora-Wainwright has conducted several research projects in Chinese villages on issues of pollution and ill-health. Her work is widely acclaimed and she was the winner of the 2018 BSA/BBC Thinking Allowed Ethnography Award for her most recent book.
