Transition to Secondary: Exploring musical composition through culture

This is a past event

This exhibition is the final product of a Music Transition Project that involves P7 classes at Danestone, Forehill and Middleton Park primary schools. Since January 2019, the children have been learning about music and have composed their own music based on the Chinese folktale 'Fox and Tiger'. This project aims to expose them to the arts in a fun and creative way. It is also an opportunity for the children to find their own identities and give them common ground on which to communicate with their peers, both local and international.

Event creator Shannon Stevenson is a 4th-year Community Music student at Aberdeen University. As part of her degree, she must design, plan and run a music project. This exhibition is the culmination of that project and is hosted by the Confucius Institute of the University of Aberdeen.

The exhibition is open to the public on Thursday 21st March, 3pm-7pm and Friday 22nd March, 2pm-8pm. Entry is free.
