The first meeting in the New Year will be on Tuesday 29th January 2019, when John Yasuda, Assistant Professor of Chinese Politics at Indiana University, will speak on

“Revenge of the Developmental State: Obstacles to Financialisation in E. Asia”.

Those of you who were lucky enough to be present will remember the splendid talk on failures in food safety regulation in China that John gave on his previous visit in October 2016, and I am very pleased that he will visit us again during his current engagement at Cambridge University. The meeting will be held at 5.15 p.m. in Room F61, Edward Wright Building, Old Aberdeen.
