Alfonso Martinez-felipe

Alfonso is a Senior Lecturer at the University of Aberdeen. He is the author of 48 peer-reviewed research papers, as well as the senior advisor of the PrototAU student engineering team and hydrogen champion at the Centre for Energy Transition and a vocal promoter of new and cleaner technologies.

Alfonzo is also a Board member of the Aberdeen Renewable Energy Group.

Gerardo Arteaga

Gerardo Arteaga has over 20 years’ experience in the energy industry acquired working in a service company, consultancies, oil and gas operators and his own practice. He has held a variety of technical and, particularly, commercial roles, with the latter including project managing acquisition and disposals of petroleum assets, commercial negotiations and joint venture support (inc. energy transition projects). A Chartered Engineer, Gerardo has lectured at postgraduate level at the University of Aberdeen and the Agostinho Neto University in Angola and has delivered training courses in the UK, Angola, Nigeria, São Tomé e Príncipe and Tanzania for governments and private companies. Gerardo currently forms part of the management team of X-Academy, an energy jobs accelerator and a not for profit subsidiary of the Xodus Group.  Gerardo completed the course of Energy Conversion and Storage in May 2022. Since then Gerardo has collaborated with Xodus on studies related to offshore facilities reusing and repurposing reviews, hydrogen, new offshore wind markets and an ocean energy marketplace overseas.”

Megan Hine

Megan Hine has worked for Draeger for 6 years, specialising in fixed gas detection, particularly in the energy industry. Alongside her technical background in gas detection, she has participated in the DNV Expert Hazard Awareness Course, witnessing hydrocarbon and hydrogen fires and detonations. She has spoken at TEDx Dundee in 2016 and is a regular guest speaker at the University of Aberdeen on “Gas safety for the energy transition” and “Hydrogen gas safety” as part of the Renewable Energy Engineering MSc. Draeger are a long established safety company with decades of experience in detecting both hydrogen and hydrocarbon flammable gases.
