Oral Presenter Guidelines

Presentations will take place in the auditorium of the KCC building at the Old Aberdeen campus.. 

How long should my presentation be?

  • Invited speaker talks should be 25 minutes long followed by 5 minutes for questions.
  • The Bill Moore lecture should be 40 minutes long followed by 5 minutes for questions.
  • Proffered Talks should be 10 minutes long followed by 2 minutes for questions.

What size should I make my presentation slides?

Your presentation slides should be 16:9 in size.

When can I upload my presentation?

You will have the opportunity to load your presentation prior to your session each morning or during the breaks prior to your session. Please arrive at the registration desk in plenty of time and one of the event organisers will direct you to the AV technician who will assist you.

If you would like us to pre-load your presentation, please email us at cpdservices@abdn.ac.uk with your presentation file. The name of the file should be your surname (family name) only. Please also bring your presentation on a USB or other storage media as a backup.

What audio visual (AV) equipment will be available?

As a presenter, there will be a lectern for you to present beside, where you will have access to a comfort monitor screen which will enable easy access to view your presentation. You will have access to a laser pointer to control your slides and there will be a lectern microphone and access to a handheld microphone for your use. A technician is on hand throughout the event to help you with any technical issues.

Guidelines for Poster Presenters

Set up and Dismantle

You will be able to set up your poster on arrival to the KCC building.  All posters will be on display throughout the whole duration of the conference. Posters will be secured by means of Velcro stickers which will be provided and on your board ready for use. Please be aware, posters printed on thick canvas may have trouble sticking to the board due to their heavy weight, and may require pins. Please note that any posters remaining at the end of the conference cannot be returned to authors.

Size

This size of the poster boards are 954mm wide by 2360mm high, and will fit an A0 paper size within it in Portrait orientation.

Date and Times of Sessions

Poster sessions will take place at various times throughout the conference. Please see the Programme for details.  Odd numbered posters should be presented from Thursday 14th September, at 13:00 - 13:45 hrs, so please stand by your poster board and be ready at those times.  Even numbered posters should be presented on Friday 15th September, from 10:00 - 10:45 hrs.
