This short course wil be delivered by The Just Transition Lab. The Lab is an interdisciplinary group of researchers from the Business School, School of Engineering, School of Geosciences, School of Law, and the School of Social Sciences working on advancing impact-driven research on Just Transition. The Just Transition Lab has developed evidence-based and policy-focused assessments and solutions for delivering a just transition in both Scotland and in an international context.
Course Outline
Learners will gain a broad introduction into the origins and concepts underpinning a Just Transition followed by applications to labour markets, addressing poverty and inequality, community revitalisation and public participation. The course will conclude with an interactive session where we will collectively identify the opportunities and challenges with delivering transitions in practice and identify key solutions.
The course will include case studies related to Aberdeen, Aberdeenshire and Scotland, and will draw upon other cases from the international context.
