University staff can purchase either daily vouchers or an annual permit to park in staff car parks at Old Aberdeen, Foresterhill and Hillhead. Staff who are based at satellite sites but who need to park at Old Aberdeen, Foresterhill or Hillhead must purchase and display a staff permit or voucher.
All staff who intend to purchase either an annual permit or daily voucher should first register their vehicle(s) on the car parking database. You can also use the car parking database to edit your details at a later date. For a step by step guide please read the Application Guidance. Click the login button at the top of this page to access the car parking database. Hardcopy applications can be made by completing a Staff Car Parking Registration Form.
Annual permits cost £220 p.a. Payments are made monthly and permits renewed in September each year.
Once you have registered your vehicle(s) you should complete a Payroll Mandate and send it to:
University of Aberdeen
Aberdeen, AB24 3FX
This will arrange for monthly payments to be taken from your salary for your annual permit. A salary sacrifice option is available via this payment method.
Daily vouchers cost £1 per day and can be purchased in books of five.
Once you have registered your vehicle(s) you can purchase daily vouchers from the Online Store or from Tiki coffee shops. A valid staff ID card must be shown when purchasing vouchers from coffee shops to prove eligibility.
You can use the car parking database to edit your details at any time. You can edit your internal address as well as register and de-register vehicles.
If you registered for an annual permit, a new permit will automatically be generated when you change your vehicle details. You must return your old permit when you receive your new one. Failing to return your old permit will result in it being treated as lost and incur a charge of £20.
If you registered for daily vouchers you can edit you details in the same way but won’t receive a new permit or have to return anything.
Click the login button at the top of this page to access the car parking database.
Alternatively you can e-mail your change of details to: email@example.com.
You cannot switch between annual and daily charging options using the online database but can do so by e-mailing your request to the above address.
Lost, Stolen or Damaged Permits and Vouchers
If your annual permit is lost you can request a replacement from the Estates Office. Replacements for lost permits will incur a charge of £20.
If your annual permit is stolen you can request a replacement from the Estates Office. Replacements for stolen permits will not incur a charge if a crime reference number is provided.
If your annual permit is damaged you can request a replacement from the Estates Office. Replacements for damaged permits may incur a charge of £20 at the discretion of the Estates Office.
Unfortunately we cannot replace lost or stolen daily vouchers.
Damaged daily vouchers may be replaced at the discretion of the Estates Office.
Cancellations and Refunds
Cancellation of annual permits and the stoppage of monthly payments can be arranged by completing a Payroll Cancellation and sending it to the Estates Office. Cancellations must be received before the 15th of the month to stop a deduction being taken at the end of that month. Vehicle details in the car parking database will be removed as part of the cancellation process.
Registered daily voucher users can deregister all vehicles to have their vehicle details removed from the car parking database.
Refunds of payments made during paid leave (sick, maternity, paternity etc.) can only be claimed if they are for more than one calendar month and will be made for whole months only.
Refunds of payments made can be requested by contacting: firstname.lastname@example.org.
Student parking is available via annual permits and daily vouchers. Students who are disabled and have a blue badge should refer to the Parking for disabled people section below. Students who require parking for disability-related reasons, but who do not have a blue badge, should discuss their situation with a Disability Adviser in the Student Advice and Support Office.
A limited number of annual permits are available at a cost of £220. A rebate of 25% is available if the permit is returned by the end of June in the year of its issue. Annual permits are issued on a criteria basis and can be applied for by completing an Application Form and e-mailing it to: Parking@abdn.ac.uk
Successful applicants will be informed within 2 weeks of their application being received. Unfortunately we are not able to reply to all unsuccessful applicants.
Daily vouchers cost £1 per day and can be used in the Butchart car park. They are available to purchase, in books of five, from the Online Store or from the reception desk in the Butchart building.
Official visitors to the University can apply for a temporary visitors permit from the staff member they are visiting to allow them to park in staff and visitor car parks. Staff members expecting visitors should refer to the Staff Guidance on Visitor Permits. Visitor permits must be completed in full and be clearly displayed in the front windscreen of the vehicle.
In special circumstances (for example, for conferences) it is possible to book spaces for visitors. Please contact the Sacrists for more information or to book spaces.
Disabled parking bays are available at various locations. To use a disabled bay you must be the owner of, and clearly display, a valid blue disabled badge. No parking charge is required for disabled users but enforcement measures still apply for contravening the Parking Regulations.
Parking Charge Notices (PCN) of £60 may be issued to vehicles parked in contravention of the Parking Regulations. Repeated or serious offences may result in the removal of parking privileges and/or University disciplinary procedures. For more information on car parking enforcement please refer to the Car Parking Policy.
Signs showing the Parking Regulations are displayed around the campus. By parking on campus you agree to comply with the posted regulations.
The University reviews the car parking system annually. Reports include capacity, usage, enforcement, charging and revenue information.
