We are delighted to be hosting the 10th Anniversary of the International Meeting for Behavioural Sciences Applied to Surgery and Acute Care Settings on the 11th and 12th of November, 2016.

For this special BSAS event we will be taking a look back at our work and the progress made over the past 10 years and collectively planning the next steps, with a focus on methodological developments, collaboration opportunities and implementation

Our programme will follow the format of previous BSAS meetings with a mixture of invited presentations, oral and poster presentations from delegates and very many opportunities for discussion. Draft details of the programme can be found here, and we are thrilled to announce that the keynote presentations will include contributions from:

Professor Jennifer Cleland, The John G Simpson Chair of Medical Education, University of Aberdeen & Chair of the Association for the Study of Medical Education (ASME). Formerly an occupational and then clinical psychologist, for more than 10 years Jennifer has developed a programme of research studying assessment and performance in medical education with a particular interest in identifying and addressing under performance.

Dr Steven Yule, Assistant Professor of Surgery, Harvard Medical School, Director of Education and Research, STRATUS Center for Medical Simulation.  Steven is an academic psychologist with expertise in organizational psychology and human factors science. His research studies the assessment of non-technical skills and patient safety in surgery.

Dr Carol-Anne Moulton, Associate Professor, University of Toronto and Staff Surgeon with the Division of General Surgery, University Health Network. Her clinical practice is in the field of hepato-biliary surgical oncology. She is appointed as Scientist at the Wilson Centre undertaking a programme of research studying surgical judgement and the social psychology of surgeons.

Registration:  Registration for the meeting is now open. The cost of the conference will be £250 to include dinner on the evening of the 11th.
