The Colorado School of Mines (Mines) is located in Golden, Colorado. Conveniently located, the campus is about 15 miles from Denver (the capital of Colorado), and less than one hour from the mountains and ski slopes. Colorado School of Mines is a public research university devoted to engineering, mining, petroleum, and other applied sciences. It has the highest admissions standards of any public university in Colorado and among the highest of any public university in the U.S. It is very highly ranked in the U.S.A. and has a strong reputation internationally. As such, Mines occupies a unique position among the world's institutions of higher education.
