General

Aarhus University offers world-class research facilities and laboratories in a wide range of subjects. We have a strong tradition of multidisciplinary research for instance in one of our 42 major research centres. The study environment at Aarhus University is informal, and the open and critical discussions between students and professors make for a very exciting and dynamic learning experience. Many former students have described how much they appreciate that the professor’s door is always open and their teachers are always ready to help them succeed in their studies.

International students at Aarhus University will be part of a group of more than 4000 international students, representing more than 120 nationalities. AU offers all the practical support and guidance to help students feel at home. For students, the International Centre offers a full induction and introduction programme as well as professional, friendly support and guidance.

Denmark is widely cited as one of the world’s most liveable places for a variety of reasons. It has the world’s highest level of income equality. Furthermore, Denmark is widely cited as one of the world’s most liveable places. Levels of public trust are high and crime is low.

Along with academic debates and lectures, AU also holds a number of social events for both international and Danish students throughout the year. This includes the very popular Kapsejlads or ‘boat race’ where students from different student associations race against each other with the chance to win “The Golden bedpan”. Moreover, every year around the beginning of the Autumn semester, the Student Council (Studenterrådet) at Aarhus University and Aarhus University Sports (AUS) host Denmark’s Largest Friday Bar and Sports Day.
