The Widening Access and Articulation Team are pleased to be offering a travel and accommodation bursary for Scottish domiciled students attending the Open Day on Saturday 5 October 2024 to support students who meet the following criteria.
- SIMD20 Postcode (Quintile 1)
- Remote & Rural Postcode (categories 5-8)
- Care Experienced
- Young Carer
- Estranged Students
- Receiving Free School Meals
- Receiving EMA
- Refugee and Asylum Seekers
- Studying a HNC/D or SWAP course at a Scottish further education college.
Some form of evidence will need to be provided but please do email accessaberdeen@abdn.ac.uk if you are unsure.
Bursary Amounts
The below is what you will be given based on where you live. This amount will be paid into the bank account stated on the bursary form. Bursary forms will be emailed out to successful applicants and must be presented at the Open Day to claim the bursary.
- Aberdeenshire over 25 miles from King's College campus £25
- Moray & Angus £50
- Mainland Scotland £100
- Island Communities £150
- If you live less than 25 miles from campus then we would expect you to take advantage of free bus travel. If you live in a rural community where public transport is unavailable or are not eligible for free bus travel, then please email us and we may be able to help with travel costs.
Deadline and awarding of bursaries.
The form for applications will close on Thursday 3rd October 2024 (for October Open Day). All applications will be reviewed, and you will be notified of the outcome of your application. We expect a high demand and there is a maximum number of bursaries available, and each application will be looked at. It may not be possible to award every applicant a bursary.
