Employment During Your Studies

International

You will likely be allowed to work up to 20 hours a week part-time during vacations if you are an international student. The amount you earn will allow you to supplement your income.

Seasonal and part time work is available locally and throughout Scotland and is a great way to gain employment experience, learn about a variety of work and find out about the way of life in Aberdeenshire and Scotland. You will meet many interesting people and often make connections for life. The work available is extremely varied and you could be doing anything from working in retail and hospitality to heritage tourism and manufacturing.

Many companies can offer placements during the summer months in your chosen area of employment so it is worth approaching them if you want to find out about their opportunities.

UK and EU

Outside of term time there are seasonal job opportunities available throughout Scotland.  Scotland is a tourist destination for international travellers from all over the world. There are opportunities at major tourist destinations, including retail, hospitality, heritage attractions, arts cafes in more rural locations, galleries, accommodation, and much more.  Some areas of Scotland provide winter sports and winter city breaks which also attract a lot of seasonal work.
