Higher education institutions in the UK have a long tradition of providing sanctuary for academics and young people forced to flee conflict and persecution and find safety elsewhere and The University of Aberdeen has committed to become a 'University of Sanctuary.
We work in partnership with City of Sanctuary, The Council for At-Risk Academics (CARA) and other partner initiatives to inspire and support universities to develop a culture of welcome within their own institutions and their wider communities.

- Access Aberdeen - Informs, supports, and encourages young people to make appropriate post-school study choices
- Entry from College - The University welcomes students whose pathway to University has been through study at a Scottish College, whether that be from an Access programme or an HNC or HND.
- Reach - Provides information, advice and guidance on applying for professional degrees in Law and Medicine
- Contextualised Admissions and Access Thresholds Policy - Applicants who meet one or more of our widening access criteria may be made a conditional offer of admission at the “Adjusted” entry requirement level.
