Students who have an unconditional offer and who decide to do a pre-sessional course can ask the University of Aberdeen to issue a CAS which would allow them to apply for a single visa which would allow them to do both their English language course and their degree at the University, as long as there is no more than 1 month between the completion of one course and the start of the next.
Students who have a conditional offer for study at the University of Aberdeen who wish to undertake a pre-sessional English programme before starting their degree studies, will need to apply for a visa to do the summer school course and cannot apply for a single visa to do both programmes. Once they have successfully finished their pre-sessional course they will receive a CAS so that they can apply for their new visa. If they have been studying on a Student Visa, this can generally be done in the UK, however if they have been studying on a short-term student visa this cannot be done in the UK.
More information, including detailed entry requirements for the pre-sessional English Language courses can be found here. Please note that international students requiring a Student Visa to study a pre-sessional course will need to sit the IELTS Academic for UKVI test.
