Key Points for Students
  • All international students applying for a Student Visa will require an immigration sponsor. A student's immigration sponsor is the institution they are studying at, therefore if you are coming to study at the University of Aberdeen, we will be your immigration sponsor.
  • Your visa will be linked to your immigration sponsor, therefore if you are studying at the University of Aberdeen, your visa will be granted to study at the University of Aberdeen only. If you decide to switch institution your visa would no longer be valid and you would be required to apply for a new visa.
  • All UK universities are required to monitor students' attendance. It is therefore very important that you ensure you arrive and register at the University on the dates as written in your visa letter and attend classes in accordance with University regulations. Failure to register by the given deadline or attend classes may result in you being reported to UKVI.
  • It is recommended that students do not travel via the Republic of Ireland when first arriving in Aberdeen. Click here for more information.
