Entry Requirements

Undergraduate

Science

We require the award of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB with an overall average of 65%, including grade 6 in each of two science-based subjects, or Mathematics and a science-based subject. We also require an NSC or IEB grade of 4 in English, or an approved English language test such as IELTS

Engineering

We require the award of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB with an overall average of 65%,including good grades in Maths and Physics essential (with Chemistry also required for some Engineering programmes). We also require an NSC or IEB grade of 4 in English, or an approved English language test such as IELTS 

Arts

We require the award of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB with an overall average of 65% in at least four N.S.C. subjects, ideally excluding “Life Orientation. We also require an NSC or IEB grade of 4 in English, or an approved English language test such as IELTS

Law

We require the award of the National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB with an overall average of National Senior Certificate, 80% or better in six subjects (not including Life Orientation)

AND

National Benchmark Tests: Proficient at 70% in Academic Literacy and Intermediate in Quantitative Literacy

Postgraduate

A four year bachelors degree with a score of 70-74% or Upper Second from a well ranked institution is considered comparable to a UK 2.1. A score of 60-69% or Lower Second is considered comparable to a UK 2.2.
