Summary
The Centre for Transport Research is offering awards to PGR students to enhance the doctoral experience. The award value is up to £1,500 and there may be more than 1 award available.
Description
This award was established in memory of Dr Caitlin Cottrill, a respected and admired friend, colleague and mentor to many staff and students at the University of Aberdeen. Caitlin joined the University in 2012 as a Lecturer in Digital Economy in the School of Geosciences, where she was subsequently promoted to Senior Lecturer. In 2020 she moved to the School of Engineering where she served as the Director of the University's Centre for Transport Research (CTR). Caitlin's former colleagues and friends described her as dedicated, generous and passionate about opening up opportunities for the students and early career researchers she worked alongside.
Eligibility
The Centre for Transport Research is offering awards to PGR students to enhance the doctoral experience by providing financial assistance to participate in knowledge exchange, networking and other enrichment and engagement opportunities (e.g., attending industry conferences, field work and presenting research papers).
Applications for the awards will be invited bi-annually (November and March) and will be awarded to home or overseas PGR students enrolled at the University of Aberdeen in any year of study. The awards are open to students across any School, but the area of study must be aligned to transport research.
For applicants in Year 2 of their study onwards and where the award is to support attending and presenting at a conference, preference will be given to students who wish to attend the Annual Transportation Research Board Conference in Washington, the University Transport Study Conference UK & Ireland, or the Royal Geographical Society-Institute of British Geographers Annual International Conference.
