BeWell and Inclusion week is coming up next week and you won’t want to miss out! Keep reading to find out all our top tips and how you can get involved!
Who are we?
We are the Graduate Assistants for Student Advice and Support!
Iona (left) - I’m Iona and I did my undergraduate in Music at UoA and I am so excited to be back working here!
Mersene (right) - I’m Mersene and did my postgrad in Creating Writing here at UoA and was also a student ambassador during my studies!
We wanted to take you through some of the AMAZING events that will be taking place from the 10th-14th of October to celebrate BeWell & Inclusion week!
What is BeWell & Inclusion Week?
BeWell & Inclusion week is all about your health and wellbeing, and the University is putting on loads of events to help you look after yourself throughout your studies.
What are we looking forward to?
Iona - The week is kicking off on Monday with keynote speaker Dr Emma Hepburn. From 5pm – 7pm in the King’s College Conference Centre, Dr Hepburn will be talking to us all about how to build healthy habits. This is sure to be a great start to the week and something that I am keen to go to. As the author of ‘A Toolkit for Happiness’ I think she will offer some wonderful advice and be a really engaging keynote speaker. Why don’t you check out her Instagram @thepsychologymum to see for yourself! Also there is free pizza at this event – great news for our student budgets.
I’m also really looking forward to the Breathing and Meditation session on Wednesday. It’s being held on the 7th floor of the library from 2-3, so I can nip over from the Students Union Building during my lunch break – very handy!
Mersene - Come down to the BeWell Fairs at Foresterhill (11/10) and Elphinstone Hall (13/10) where you can map out your personal wellbeing and explore all the great stalls! Who doesn’t love free giveaways including plants, bike helmets and T-shirts, with a chance to win even bigger prizes such as iPads, Fitbits and Beats Headphones? Do you like floofy dogs? We got them. Come along for a cuddle!
Why not take the opportunity to unwind during Wednesday’s Yoga session at 12-12:45pm, on the 7th floor of the Sir Duncan Rice Library? I know I am looking forward to it! Hope to see you there!
Top Tip
Iona - Whenever I feel stressed or anxious I like to put my headphones and blast my favourite music whilst I go for a walk. I find that it always clears my head, and I come back feeling revived and ready to crack on with my next task. A little dancing doesn’t hurt either…
Mersene - During busy moments I find it important to practice mindfulness whether that’s a short walk around campus or taking 5 minutes to focus on my breathing. It’s important to make time during your day for yourself and your wellbeing.
