Cute Christmas DIY: What to do over Christmas

Exams and essays are over! It means Christmas is near Wahoo!! Do you already have plans over Christmas? Perhaps you’re going somewhere with your family and friends? Or staying at home and watching tons of movies? No matter what your plans are for the holidays, these are some additional tips to make your Christmas break more fun.

Read some Christmas books

What else can awaken your Christmas spirit like a good book? Some of you might have spent your Christmases reading magical books as a kid. But as we grew up, we read them less. With endless options of entertainment in this modern era, reading books for leisure is often neglected by many people. “It takes a lot of time” they say. However, there are many books out there, from light to heavy reading. If you are not an avid reader, why not try reading a children’s Christmas book?  It might sound silly, but it can bring a nostalgic feeling. There are many Christmas books you can find at bookstores or online. But if you do not want to spend money (over Christmas that’s pretty understandable), there are some that you can borrow from the Sir Duncan Rice Library!

Try new recipes

With no deadlines approaching, now is the perfect time to try some new recipes! Show your relatives and friends that you can be a genius in the kitchen as well. You can also cook together with your friends, and I am sure it will be a wonderful experience ^^

(P.S: If you are not familiar with cooking, you might want to try a simple recipe first).

Learn new songs

No matter which musical instruments you play (or maybe you’d like to sing), learning some new songs over the holidays can improve your music skills, and who knows, maybe you can show them off to your friends when you meet them again in the new term. You might also want to learn some Christmas songs to make your Christmas feel even more Christmassy. If you are bored with typical Christmas songs, you can learn to play the soundtracks from your favourite Christmas movies.

In the end, have a holly jolly Christmas and a wonderful winter break!
