Disruption expected during library work

Essential work to the exterior of the Sir Duncan Rice Library is currently underway.

The works begin on Wednesday (16 October) to remove the outer panes of glass from a number of windows around the building. Weather permitting, the work is expected to take around four weeks to complete.

During this time users of the library can expect some noise disruption. We hope that the noisiest work will be localised to specific areas at a time but there may be noise throughout the building, with the uppermost floors most affected.

Areas outside the building will also be closed off for periods during the work, with guidance provided on alternative access if required. Regrettably access to the disabled parking bays to the left of the library will also be restricted, however alternative bays will be open to the right, located the same distance from the building and accessible via the first left as you enter Bedford Road from St Machar Drive.

The main entrance of SDRL will be closed on Saturday 2 & Sunday 3 November. You can still access the library via the entrance/exit to the café. The external book drop will also be unavailable on these dates.

Alternative study spaces are available at the Taylor Library, and library staff are liaising with anyone who has booked a meeting room or event space during this time. Information on alternative study spaces is available on the Study Spaces, Support & Resources webpage.

Apologies for any inconvenience that may be experienced as a result of this work.
