The £500 prize is open to all University of Aberdeen students with preference given to those within the School of Social Science.
The Professor Debra Gimlin Prize
The University of Aberdeen is proud to launch the Professor Debra Gimlin Prize 2023/24.
This prize was established in memory of Professor Debra Gimlin, former Head of the School of Social Science at the University of Aberdeen. Professor Gimlin was an internationally renowned sociologist, a highly valued member of staff, and a truly beloved colleague.
This prize will inspire and support students within the University of Aberdeen whose research interests lie in feminist social science, in particular within the discipline of sociology, the area for which Professor Gimlin was most renowned and respected.
Following the establishment of this award, there has been an incredibly generous and warm response from family, friends and colleagues across the globe who have supported this prize. Our grateful thanks to all those who chose to make a contribution towards Debra’s award – it is most appreciated.
Deadline: Friday 10 May 2024
Awarded at £500 per annum
The Professor Debra Gimlin Prize is open to all students at the University of Aberdeen with preference given to students within the School of Social Science. Unsuccessful applicants may apply again in following years – however an award will only be made once to an individual student during their cycle of study.
