Marking and Assessment Boycott and graduations

Marking and Assessment Boycott and graduations

Dear students,

You will be aware that a small number of University staff in the UCU trade union are taking part in a Marking and Assessment Boycott as part of industrial action taking place at universities across the UK.

Please be assured that the vast majority of our students will not be impacted by the boycott and that we are doing all that we can to minimise disruption.

The University Senate has approved temporary additional measures so that almost all students can graduate or progress to the next level of study.

There may be a small number of students whose work cannot be marked, and you will be contacted by your School with further information if this is the case. This will not prevent any student from attending their graduation ceremony and a transcript of results to date together with a letter explaining the situation will be provided for future employers or for further study.

We understand that this may be a cause of worry but only a small number of academic staff are taking part in the boycott. Please be assured we are doing absolutely all we can to minimise disruption and let me stress again that majority of you will not be impacted.

You can find more information at our FAQs but if you still have concerns, please contact mab@abdn.ac.uk

Best wishes
Ruth
