The University's cheerleading team AUCS achieved major success at the University National Championships in Manchester on 19 February.
AUCS ‘Rain’ became the Small All Girl Level 1 national Champions, coming first out of 14 teams. Rain consists of 16 students from schools across the University and is coached by Lara Dasar, a Teaching Assistant within the School of Medicine, Medical Sciences and Nutrition, and Yana Schintgen who is a 3rd year Neuroscience with Psychology student.
The club saw other successes at the weekend; stunt group ‘Wildfire’ also became Level 1 National Champions, coming 1st place out of 5 teams, and pom team ‘Frost’, coached by 4th year Marine Biology student Molly Anderson, placed 7th out of 21 teams.
