Wondering what to do alongside your main subject? Why not study Gaelic: Scotland’s oldest living language. Gaelic is currently undergoing a national revival with increased support across all parts of society. You can pick Gaelic as a subject (GH1007) even if you have never studied it before and expect to reach a good intermediate level within two years. If you already know Gaelic, there are also opportunities for you to keep practicing your language skills (GH1013). If you just want to know a little bit more about the language and culture, without studying the language, you can do that too (GH1015). Whatever your situation, by choosing Gaelic you are enhancing your job opportunities, you are learning more about Scotland’s culture and history, you are improving your cognitive skills and you get to be part of an exciting renaissance.
