The North-East Scotland Ecology Network (NESEN) and The British Ecological Society Scottish Policy Group (BES-SPG) will be running a joint Science Day and Workshop.

NESEN Science Day: 09:30am - 2:20pm

The NESEN annual Science Day is open to all. Your research work does not have to be based in the North-East – we’re interested in any ecological science irrespective of how or where it’s done.

The North-East Scotland Ecology Network (NESEN) aims to promote the development and use of all types of ecological science, improve the sharing of information and help build collaborations between ecologists in the North-East of Scotland, particularly in Aberdeen and the wider Aberdeenshire area, and to promote the North-East of Scotland as a centre for ecological research within the UK. Organisations involved in NESEN are:

  • University of Aberdeen
  • Scotland's Rural College (SRUC)
  • James Hutton Institute
  • Biomathematics and Statistics Scotland (BioSS)
  • Joint Nature Conservation Committee (JNCC)
  • NatureScot
  • Scottish Government's Marine Directorate

BES Scottish Policy Group Workshop: the cumulative effect of offshore renewables 2:30pm - 4:45pm

The British Ecological Society’s Scottish Policy Group works at the interface between ecology and environmental policy, promoting the use of ecological knowledge in all levels of Scottish policy making.
