How Being a Student Ambassador Has Prepared Me For A Career In Law

In June 2022, I was accepted into the University of Aberdeen Student Ambassador Network. I worked as a student ambassador all throughout my final year, and my only regret is not having joined the scheme earlier. It was, without a shadow of a doubt, the absolute highlight of my university experience. Not only did I have the opportunity to complete lots of exciting and varied work, I gained invaluable experience and skills while doing so - experience and skills which I can apply to my future legal career.

Who is it for?

We believe it is important for our prospective, new and current students have access to fellow students who are already experiencing life as a student of the University of Aberdeen. Sharing personal experiences can provide potential students and new students with invaluable information.

We are looking for enthusiastic, motivated, and friendly undergraduate and postgraduate taught students from all backgrounds who are passionate about the University of Aberdeen.

You should:

be a strong team player
be experienced in a customer-facing roles
have excellent communication skills.
possess the ability to work independently as well as part of a wider team.

UG students must also be in at least Year 2 of your studies.

What is involved?

Working with schools and directorates across the University this role provides a broad range of opportunities includes:

Supporting recruitment activity such as Open Days
Assist with telephone campaigns for potential or new students
Hosting engaging campus tours
Providing administrative support

Creating Blogs and Vlogs
Supporting Marketing activity
Support for events
Use of social media or virtual platforms to engage with potential students including webinars

What is the time commitment?

The Student Ambassador Network offers flexibly, enabling you to select hours which fit around studies.

The amount of work available will vary from month to month therefore we cannot guarantee a set number of hours each month.

At a minimum, you'll be contracted to work 10-hours over the course of the academic year but you can choose to pick up as many shifts as you can fit into your schedule or that your Visa allows.
