This year's Thomas Reid Collecting Prize has been awarded to Araba Mercer Banson in what was a very high-calibre field of students.
She showed how her collection of Black writing has been essential to her own personal growth and development. The collection reflects her early love of libraries, her spiritual growth, climate activism and sense of belonging.
Araba’s main reason for entering the competition was to make her collection visible and to bring about a positive ongoing change in society.
