Senate Meeting - 19 April 2023

The Agenda for the meeting of Senate, to be held on 19 April 2023, can be accessed via this link.

This is an opportunity to share your views with the Vice-President for Education at AUSA of your opinions regarding any of items on the agenda. This will help them and other student senators to represent your views more accurately. You can contact the Vice-President by clicking here.

The Agenda of Senate is set by the Senate Business Committee which meets in advance of each Senate. As such, we cannot add more items to the current Senate but if you wish to feedback on areas which you believe should discussed at future Senate, you have the opportunity to raise this with the Vice-President by clicking here.

 What is Senate?

The Senate is a body within the University responsible for the overall planning, co-ordination, development and supervision of the academic work of the institution. It is made up of elected academics from each of the University’s Schools, Ex-Officio members such as the Vice-Principals and students. The students on Senate are your elected School and Postgraduate representatives who work with class reps and students within your school. You can find a list of your Undergraduate School Reps here and your Postgraduate School Reps here. Most but not all School Reps are Student Senators. If you give Senate-related feedback to School Rep who is not a Senator, they will pass it to the Student Senators.

The Senate is responsible for all academic matters relating to teaching and research. This includes approving teaching, learning and research policies; and practices and regulations that govern students’ programmes of study. You can find more information on the full remit of Senate here.

Best wishes
