PGR Digital Skills Sessions: Bias, diversity and representation in academic literature for PGRs (Online)
-
This is a past event
This Spring we are running a series of online workshops for PGRs covering key skills for working digitally and conducting research using academic literature.
Peer review is often seen as the ‘gold standard’ in academic publishing, but what does it mean, and how does it work? Can you rely on peer-reviewed articles or are there other factors affecting bias, diversty and inclusion that you should consider when you research the literature? In this 2-hour workshop we will discuss the academic publishing landscape, the different forms of peer review and how understanding publishing might affect how we approach and evaluate academic literature. We will also consider issues of bias, and equality and diversity in the ways academic research is traditionally published and shared.
