The library are offering a series of online workshops for postgraduates on essential digital research skills.
Scholarly publications are crucial for academic research, but are there sources beyond academic books and journals that might be important for your research? How do you know what else is out there, and how do you find it?
This online workshop will discuss less-traditional sources, often known as ‘grey literature’, and the different but valuable information and perspectives they can offer. We will look at the kinds of sources available and how you can use the advanced features of search engines such as Google to track them down.
After this workshop you will be able to:
- Identify less-traditional sources of information that may be relevant to your research.
- Use advanced search engine features to search for sources beyond traditional academic databases.
This workshop will include plenty of time for discussion, questions, and hands-on activities to practice the search techniques discussed.
