Consultation for University of Aberdeen Gaelic Language Plan 2025 – 2030
The University of Aberdeen's current Gaelic Language Plan comes to an end in 2024, and we are currently drafting our new Gaelic Language Plan for 2025-2030.
We are pleased with the progress we have made over the last five years and are now looking forward on how we can develop our achievements further. This draft Gaelic Language Plan sets out a series of principles and commitments which endeavours to develop the use, learning and visibility of Gaelic at the University over the next five years.
We want to ensure that our new Gaelic Language Plan accurately reflects the priorities of our staff, students, and our local community. We are therefore seeking your views – whether you are a Gaelic speaker or not – on the structure and content of our draft Gaelic Plan 2025-2030.
The consultation on the draft Gaelic Language Plan will be open from the 13 June 2024 to the 15 July 2024. You are invited to feedback on the plan through:
- completing the questionnaire here
- attending our public consultation meeting on Tuesday, the 18th June at 5.30pm in Meeting room 1 on the 7th floor of the Sir Duncan Rice Library on the Old Aberdeen campus. This is a hybrid meeting - if you would like the Teams link to the meeting please contact: carola.maccallum@abdn.ac.uk.

Bidh Plana Gàidhlig làithreach Oilthigh Obar Dheathain a’ tighinn gu crìch aig deireadh 2024, agus tha sinn gu làithreach a’ dreachdadh ar Plana Gàidhlig ùr mu choinneamh 2025-2030.
Tha sinn toilichte leis an adhartas a tha sinn air a choileanadh thar nan còig bliadhna a dh’fhalbh agus tha sinn a-nis a’ dèanamh fiughair ri mar as urrainn dhuinn barrachd leasachaidh a thoirt air ar gnìomhan. Tha an dreachd Plana Gàidhlig seo a’ mìneachadh sreath de phrionnsapalan agus de ghealltanasan a tha a’ dèanamh oidhirp air cleachdadh, ionnsachadh agus faicsinneachd na Gàidhlig a leasachadh san Oilthigh thar nan còig bliadhna a tha romhainn.
Tha sinn airson dèanamh cinnteach gum bi ar Plana Gàidhlig ùr a’ toirt iomradh mionaideach air prìomhachasan ar luchd-obrach, ar n-oileanach agus ar coimhearsnachd ionadail. Mar sin, tha sinn a’ sireadh ur bheachdan – eadar gu bheil Gàidhlig agaibh no nach eil – mu structar agus susbaint ar dreachd Plana Gàidhlig 2025-2030.
Bidh an co-chomhairleachadh air an dreachd Plana Gàidhlig fosgailte bho 13 Ògmhios 2024 gu 15 Iuchar 2024. Tha sinn a’ sireadh fiosrachaidh air ais bhuaibh mun phlana tro:
- an ceisteachan a lìonadh
