Professor Peter McGeorge
Professor Peter McGeorge is Vice-Principal for Learning & Teaching, with responsibility for leading the University's commitment to continually improving the quality of academic experience for our students, achieving the benefits of our curriculum reform project, and widening access and participation.
Professor McGeorge studied Behavioural Sciences (Psychology/Zoology) at the University of Nottingham before completing his PhD in Experimental Psychology. He moved to the University of Aberdeen in 1990 to become a post-doctoral research fellow and subsequently a lecturer in the School of Psychology. In 2004 he became the Head of School of Psychology within the College of Life Sciences and Medicine and in 2010 was appointed Vice-Principal for Learning and Teaching.
Peter McGeorge has a broad range of research interests and publications covering the area of visual attention in both healthy and clinical populations.
Dr David Muirhead
David is a geologist and petroleum geochemist, with further interests in mineralogy, astrobiology and planetary science. He has previously held positions within Halliburton as a logging geologist and subsequently a geochemist, with a strong focus on global research & development within the company.
Since his appointment at the University of Aberdeen, David has been heavily involved with both Undergraduate and Postgraduate teaching, coordinating and teaching on a diverse range of 18 courses across three Programmes in the School of Geosciences. David is currently the Chair of the Geology Undergraduate Teaching Committee and Deputy Director of PGT Programmes in the School of Geosciences. In 2016 David completed the PGCert in Learning and Teaching in Higher Education and gained Fellowship of the Higher Education Academy.
David obtained his BSc in Earth Science from the University of Glasgow and then his PhD from the University of Aberdeen,
Ashley Sevadjian
Ashley is based within the Directorate of Student Life where she is employed as a Graduate Trainee in the Student Recruitment and Admissions Service. She graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2016 with a MA (Hons) Degree in English with Creative Writing, achieving a first class honours and the Seafield Medal for academic excellence.
Throughout university, Ashley took part in many employability schemes, including the competitive Aberdeen Internship Programme, where she worked in the Directorate of Planning and Policy in the summer of 2015. She also took part in the Mentoring Scheme, and achieved the STAR Award at Silver Level for her role as Convenor of the School of Language and Literature 2015/16.
During her fourth year of study, she also completed a Santander Internship at the Aberdeen and Grampian Chamber of Commerce, where she worked on the government initiative for Developing Scotland's Young Workforce in the North East.
Having been involved in extra-curricular activities such as the student newspaper and Granite City TV Society (amongst others), she now travels around the UK speaking to prospective students about the University.
Beverley Tricker, Managing Director, Tricker PR
Beverley, established Tricker PR Ltd 16 years ago. Since its establishment, her company has won more than 35 industry awards including the titles of the UK's Outstanding PR Consultancy and also Scotland's Outstanding PR Consultancy by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations. Fast moving, proactive and news agenda-led PR and innovative and targeted marketing is Beverley Tricker's specialism. Aberdonian Beverley has considerable experience in consumer PR and marketing - including creating the world's first tartan confetti for Romantic Scotland, creating a global campaign to 'Save Our Dram' for the Spirit of Speyside Whisky Festival and trying to buy back Berwick Upon Tweed for the Scottish Borders. Beverley is a History of Art graduate of Aberdeen University, a qualified teacher, a board member of the Scottish SPCA, director of VisitAberdeen, a Council member of the chamber of commerce, a former committee member of the CIPR and member of SCDI and the IoD.
Paul Matthews, HR Director, Aberdeenshire Council
Paul has worked in a variety of HR roles, spending the majority of his professional working life in the oil and gas sector both in the UK and globally before moving into local government in February 2016. He holds a BA in Public Administration and an MSc in Human Resource Management (HRM), Fellowship status of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development (CIPD) and was awarded Scottish HR Director of the Year in 2008. Paul is familiar with higher education, and is currently External Examiner for HRM PgDip and MSc courses at the Robert Gordon University. He has designed and managed various apprenticeship and graduate programmes and worked closely with schools, colleges and universities to promote work experience and transition programmes. He has implemented transition programmes for the armed forces and long-term unemployed, including the Prince's Trust. Paul has active links with the University of Aberdeen in support of the Leadership Academy initiative.
Finia Kuhlmann
Finia Kuhlmann (4th year Accountancy and Management) is the President of University of Aberdeen Debater, the most successful competitive debater in Aberdeen and competing in the World Championships for the University of Aberdeen in 2016&17. In her current role, she is leading the training programme for students and pupils around Aberdeen and chairs the weekly public debates. During her time at University, she has been giving workshops on public speaking for different student societies and initiatives of the Career Service.
Furthermore, she has been involved in the organising team of the European Student Energy Summit 2014 and moderator of sessions on the future of energy. Last year, she was the head of TEDxUniversityOfAberdeen organising team and the presenter of the conference.
Arnar Árnason
Arnar Árnason has taught social anthropology here at the University for a number of years. He has a B.A. degree in Anthropology from the University of Iceland, and M.A. and Ph.D. degrees in Social Anthropology from the University of Durham, England. He has carried out fieldwork in England, Japan, Iceland and Scotland. His research interests include: death, emotion, and psychotherapy and the politics thereof; subjectivities/subjection; narratives, memory and forgetting; embodiment; identity and landscape.
