Implementation of the 2023-24 Pay Award

Dear colleagues,

This is a further update on the 2023-2024 pay negotiations, regarding implementation of the 2023-24 Pay Award.

You can view previous communications about this below.

During the dispute resolution meetings, facilitated by Acas, a revised offer as detailed below was made.

The overall amount of funding for the pay uplift for 2023-24 remains unchanged from that outlined in the communication on 30 January with the following overall percentages applying from August 2023.

Restructured interim uplift from February 2023

While the overall amount of funding for the pay uplift for 2023-24 has not changed, during the Acas facilitated discussions, a restructured uplift to apply from 1 February 2023 was offered by UCEA on behalf of the employers.  This is for an interim uplift of £1,000 on each pay point or 2%, whichever is the greater, as detailed below.

The University fully supports this outcome, which continues to target higher increases to colleagues on lower pay, whilst ensuring a pay uplift for all staff to address cost-of-living pressures.

A further update on progress of the other Acas facilitated discussions with regard to the pay spine, employment contract types, workload and pay gaps will be provided in due course.

Best wishes

Karl
