Tributes have been paid to Professor Frank Odds who has passed away.
Frank held a Chair in Medical Mycology at the University of Aberdeen from 1999 until he retired in 2009 and helped to establish the Aberdeen Fungal Group.
As well as academic posts, he had worked in R&D for a large Pharma company and brought a rare combination of skills, experience and insight to his role at Aberdeen.
Frank was a valued colleague for his intellectual and scholarly work and outputs, for his collaborative approach to science, for his ground-breaking work and not least for his great sense of fun.
IMS staff and students will remember well the two Christmas videos he directed, memorable for their musical content and for a vast cast of contributors as well as a guest appearance by Mr Blobby! You can still find them on YouTube.
Frank died in July and is remembered in the Guardian in a piece by Professor Neil Gow.
