The University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Orchestra are recruiting

The University of Aberdeen Symphony Orchestra accepts members from both the student and staff body of the University and is also open to the public upon audition, members will be selected through competitive audition where the best players for the Orchestra will be selected. Symphony Orchestra rehearses in Johnston Hall on Monday nights between 1800 – 2200.

Repertoire this year includes: Strauss Four Last Songs, Brahms Symphony No.1 in C Minor, Holst The Planets

Marischal Chamber Orchestra brings together the elite of the Symphony Orchestra to produce the highest quality performances possible. Entry to Chamber Orchestra is by competitive audition where the best players for the Chamber Orchestra will be selected. Current members will not be given priority, all auditionees will be treated equally. Chamber Orchestra rehearses in Johnston Hall on Wednesday nights between 5pm to 8pm.

Repertoire this year includes: Mozart Requiem, Stravinsky Pulcinella, andnew commissioned works by student composers including two 15 minute Operas to be fully staged in collaboration with Scottish Opera

Auditions will be held on the following dates in MacRobert Room 221 (warm-up room 225). You will need to prepare one piece of around 5 minutes in length. Please email chris.gray@abdn.ac.uk to reserve your audition slot
