There are several events taking place across the city to mark Holocaust Memorial Day on 27 January.
Holocaust Memorial Day walk
11am to 1.30pm
Multifaith Chaplaincy
Join staff and students of the University to walk to the citywide event at the Cowdray Hall. Members of the University community are invited to meet at 11am at the Multifaith Chaplaincy. From there the group will walk (weather dependant) to the event at the Cowdray Hall at 12pm. The walk is approximately 30mins (1.5 miles).

Four Pillars LGBTQ+ Remembrance: Reflecting on Queer Lives in the 1930s

4 Unity Cafe
Go back in time to a 1930’s café to commemorate Holocaust Memorial Day with a focus on the lived experiences of Queer individuals during the 1930s.
Stories and historical reflections will honour those who faced unimaginable persecution and resilience in a time of darkness.

Holocaust survivor and writer Chava Nissimov at Aberdeen Central Library
6pm to 7.30pm
Aberdeen Central Library
To coincide with this year’s exhibition, social activist, writer, and Holocaust survivor Chava Nissimov will speak on her experiences of growing up in, and escaping from, the Warsaw Ghetto.
She is an award-winning writer, both poetry and prose, and created works referring to her personal experiences during the war and the period after its end, passing on knowledge about the Holocaust and examples of Polish help to Jews during the German occupation.
