Dear Colleagues,
Ahead of SQA Results Day on 6th August and JCQ Results Day on 15th August, the University has entered the UCAS Embargo period.
Each year, UCAS and universities and colleges are given early access to results under strict embargo arrangements with the Scottish Qualifications Authority (SQA) and the Joint Council for Qualifications (JCQ). An embargo period covers the defined period of time where early access to embargoed results is given. This allows universities and colleges to prepare and make decisions by the official publication dates of results. During the embargo, universities and colleges cannot discuss an applicant’s individual status with them, or with an adviser.
This work is very important for the University’s undergraduate admissions efforts and a number of measures have been put in place to ensure we do not accidentally breach the embargo and communicate results or application outcomes early. This includes disabling data transfers between systems and switching off automated communication processes. The embargo covers written and verbal communications.
This year’s embargo periods are:
- Monday, 29th July 18:00 BST – Tuesday, 6th August 09:00 BST
- Friday, 9th August 14:00 BST – Thursday, 15th August 08:00 BST
If you have any questions about the UCAS Embargo, please contact David Stoll, Interim Head of Admissions – david.stoll@abdn.ac.uk
Best Wishes
