The University's performance in the Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024
Dear Colleagues,
The Times and Sunday Times Good University Guide 2024 was published on Friday and I am delighted to report that the University is again ranked 19th in the UK and has risen one place to fourth in Scotland. This is the third year in a row that the University has been ranked in the top 20 in the UK in this ranking.
Anatomy and Physiology is again ranked first in the UK, with another six subject areas ranking in the top ten and a further 14 subjects in the top 20.
This ranking is made up of eight metrics focusing on education and research. There has been one minor methodological change this year with Student Continuation replacing the previous Completion metric. As with the Guardian University Guide published earlier this month, the Times has used the NSS 2022 results owing to timing issues. As a result, there has been little change in ranking for most universities and the majority of subjects.
These results, along with the recent Guardian University Guide, where the University achieved its best ever rank of 12th in the UK, demonstrate the excellent work being carried out across the University.
A detailed analysis of the results for the University and by subject is available on the Directorate of Planning & Governance webpages. The Times Higher Education World University Rankings will be published on 27 September and I will be in touch with those results then.
Best wishes,
Karl
